The Adventures of the Womp Rat Crew

Alliance Special Operations Mission Group #242 was sent to the Sarin Sector under cover as traders to establish a Rebel underground movement. Within three days of their arrival, they blew any semblance of cover by indelicately attempting to contact the student underground at the University of Cisrak, gunning down a COMPNOR operative in public, and spectacularly crash-landing the Womp Rat in a strip mall during their escape. The now (in)famous Womp Rat Crew was already on the run with no more than three recruits to the Rebellion and no less than a 10,000 credit bounty for their capture.

The Crew managed to contact Nibo the Hutt, who had his technicians alter their transponder code, so the Womp Rat now masquerades as the Warp Guru. The hitch was that they owed Nibo a "favor" -- and had a thermal detonator attached to the main drive as a reminder. Galaná learned from the students that the student underground at Cisrak had already been crushed: over three hundred peaceful protestors of the Empire's anti-alien bias were gunned down by Stormtroopers, though a handful had managed to escape on a hijacked Imperial cruiser to an unknown destination. Galaná's son-in-law, Captain Wenrin Gray, was arrested for allowing them to escape. They dropped off their three recruits on Raychroth to set up an intelligence network and set off to locate those students that had escaped the Cisrak Massacre. Pinot, without so much as a by-your-leave, used the Force to detect the location of the fugitive students, and took the ship into hyperspace. The rest of the Crew was somewhat unnerved that their navigator had taken them unto uncharted territory on a 'hunch,' and Bancor accidentally killed Pinot in a fit of rage. Bancor was stripped of rank and Pandu assumed command of the ship.

Pinot's hunch was correct, and the Mission Group found Professor Andar Momeni and the Cisrak Survivors hiding out on an uncharted planet in a hidden base constructed from the hull of the Defender and training for war. Galaná remained with them for a month, furthering their training in the martial arts and honing her own Force skills, while the rest of the Crew salvaged the Defender's drive to sell on the black market.

While picking up new recruits on Raychroth, the Crew received up a distress signal from a group of scientists on Nysar. The planet had suffered some mysterious disaster several months earlier, causing the atmosphere to become highly radioactive. Upon arrival, the crew found that the scientists had been involved in weapons research for the Empire, and Imperial forces arrived to "take over the evacuation." The Crew was forced to leave Bancor hidden on the planet's surface and return to orbit for decontamination and debriefing. In orbit, Solus disabled the artificial gravity and Tanis threw the ship into a dive - causing the Imperial boarding party to crash violently to the ceiling and returning control of the ship to the Crew. Meanwhile, Bancor witnessed a special division of Radiation Zone Stormtroopers blow up the bunker in which the scientists were sheltering. Outnumbered, Bancor ambushed the stormtroopers while the Womp Rat returned and blasted the Imperial dropship out of the sky.

Back on Tialis, it took quite some time to persuade the Imperial scientists to divulge anything about their research, and a captured Radtrooper was entirely uncooperative. Eventually, it was learned that the Empire had been working on a portable neutron radiation emitter, that should have enabled Radtrooper units to flood an area with lethal radiation without destroying its long-term strategic value. The weapon had an unexpected effect, and caused a chain reaction in the heavy elements in Nysar's crust, killing the planet. A few key scientists and the prototypes had been taken to the Imperial base on Y'nill to redevelop the weapon as a doomsday device.

The scientists eventually agreed to aid the Rebellion, and the Crew started planning for their fist major military operation. Most of the Cisrak Survivors were sent to other planets to establish intelligence networks and underground cells. Solus made some modifications to the ship, adding weapons, shields, and converting the cargo hold into a launch bay, then the entire Crew hijacked six Raychroth mining ships from the Athden asteroid field, along with their crack pilots. Pandu recruited them to their cause. Bancor and Tanis traveled to Sarius IV, where they stowed away on an Imperial transport bound for Y'nill while the others traveled to Dehona, where most of the sector's Imperial forces were monitoring the annual trade festival and the visiting convention of the Most Honourable Guild of Armourers. The Womp Rat was booted, Pandu had to distract some Imperial soldiers while Buka was paying for three E-Web blasters, and the Crew had a brief run-in with bounty hunter Gerrick Angel. Bancor killed the crew of the shuttle and Tanis rendezvoused with the Womp Rat in deep space.

The shuttle approached Y'nill as usual, a bit behind schedule, but nothing to concern the Imperial forces. It dropped off the radar for a moment during its approach, where Tanis dropped off Galaná, Pandu, a few Cisrak Survivors and the E-Webs. Bancor and Buka slipped into the base and planted explosives on every important structure and prepared to bust the prison on the signal. Solus then made his approach in the Womp Rat, dropping the mining ships from the launch bay. His first proton torpedo hit a critical weak point on the Countermand, destroying it with one shot. The mining ships kept the TIE fighters busy while Solus dived into the atmosphere and strafed the ships on the surface. At that moment, Buka triggered the explosives, and Pandu's strike group opened fire from concealed positions in the forest. Bancor and Buka entered the prison compound and took out the guards with blasters and grenades and rescued a number of political prisoners, including Captain Wenrin Gray. The Crew made it away with three casualties and a few dozen new recruits, leaving the Imperial sector forces headless.

Two Skipray Blastboats, captured on Y'nill, were the price Nibo demanded for his aid. However for reasons still unclear, the Hutt betrayed the Womp Rat Crew to the Slag syndicate and released their false transponder code to the Empire. After slugging it out with the Meltdown, the group decided to lay low to Raychroth and made contact with Rebel High Command. Their case officer delivered instructions to organize a sector command with Gray as Commander-in-Chief, Momeni as head of Intelligence, and left the SpecialOps Mission Group on loan to the Sarin Sector forces until better established. Pandu was reclaimed by Alliance Intel and reassigned. For the next two months, the Crew transported the families of the Cisrak Survivors to safety on Tialis, established a base on Dehona, sold Solus' designs for the Valkyrie-series transport to Rachroth Corporation, and changed their transponder code again.
